Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Madison Green Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

first_imgCourtesy of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi AthleticsAUSTIN, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi senior Madison Green has been named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I Women’s Volleyball First Team. Green became the program’s first Academic All-America Selection last season as a junior. The team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The press release from CoSIDA can be found HERE.A native of Dripping Springs, Texas, she becomes just the second Islander to ever earn two Academic All-America recognitions, joining softball’s Katie Evans who won in 2003 and 2004. She was the lone Southland student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors this year. A Biology major with a 4.00 GPA, Green was named an All-Southland Conference First Team performer for the second straight season and garnered Southland Setter of the Year honors.Green led the conference and ranked third nationally with seven triple-doubles this season. She had 11 double-doubles with 12 double-digit kill performances and 12 double-digit dig performances. She had double figure assists in 29-of-31 matches she appeared in on the year. Green had 26 matches with 20+ assists, 11 30+ assist performances and surpassed 40 assists three times.The Academic All-America award program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Green was named a first-team Academic All-District honoree in November for the second straight season.last_img
